Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama

My best friend from High School just received a notice from her ex-husband's attorney that he is taking her back to court for more child support. She makes 879.00 bi-weekly and he makes about $3000.00 biweekly. She now pays $700.00 per month. His house and cars are paid for and she is barely surviving. She doesnt mind at all supporting her kids but she has to be able to live and can only do so now with the help of her family.

She can not afford an attorney and really needs representation. He still threatens her and she is terrified to let him know where she lives. (she uses a PO box for ALL mail). He is "dating" a married woman with an infant.

Is there some place she can go for free legal help or someone who is REALLY cheap and will let her make payments or make her ex pay?

And since she lives in GA and he lives in AL does she need a GA lawyer or a GA lawyer?

* a little history - She had a terrible accident and ended up addicted to painkillers. Her marriage was abusive and her now Ex is a firefighter who has connections in the fire and police departments in the small town they lived in. When she tried to file reports she was dismissed or she was the one arrested. (no, she wasnt a saint, but it was unjust) She has moved to GA and has overcome her drug problem (she tests regularly) and works full time. He ex is still verbally abusive and she has to drive to Alabama to see her boys - which she does up to 6 times a month.

Thank you so much!

If the case is in AL, she needs ;an AL lawyer. Child support is based on the Rules of Judicial Administration and the incomes of the parties, not whether house, car, etc are paid for. It is possible her child support will go down. He would get credit for any medical insurance he pays for.
