Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama

Is a letter binding?

My parents are in the middle of a divorce and my father is threatening the house, but he had previously sent my mother several signed letters stating that the house was hers and that he would pay the mortgage as well as leaving a message on the answering machine stating the same. My question is whether or not these would stand up in court as legally binding?

The tape recording is not evidence per se but you may be able to use it. Maryland applies the shared formula to discern matters of child support. Contact an attorney if you are having problems.

Issues of marital property can be a separate matter. Your situation may require legal assistance.
