Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama

Unauthorized use of personal address

We allowed our oldest son to move in temporarily while he was strapped financially. He had our address put on his bank checks and wrote several bad checks to the point that a local restaurant will no longer take personal checks from this address. Our son has moved and today I found that he is still using our address on his personal checks. What are our legal rights to keep him from putting our address on his checks to avoid future situations as described above from happening again? We never gave him permission to use our address.

Re: Unauthorized use of personal address

You have some remedies against your son I believe. However, I think they will all be criminal in nature. You will probably have to have your son arrested. Over the twenty some odd years I have been practicing law I know how hard this can be. It usually stops most parents from going forward. This son is probably counting on this. This best thing you could do for him in the long run might very well be to pursue this matter. It is probably time he faced who is he and what his life has turned into. Once he is back on tract you can still help him any way you can. Thanks for allowing me to try to help. My web site is http://fredwoodlaw.lawoffice.com
