Legal Question in Employment Law in Alabama

In the state of Alabama can a ex-employer enforce a signed agreement not to work for any competitors although it was signed under duress with the threat of termanation if not signed. Then with-in a few months was termanated without reason given on his letter. He is drawing unemployment but wants to work.

The agreemnent is legal, if it is properly done and meets the requirements of a non compete agreement. If you can prove duress the agreement will be held invalid in court. The way you would test the agreement is to go to work for the other company and defend when they attempted to sue you. See an attorney on this one.
