Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Alabama

Name change

How do I go about changing my first name? It may sound silly at my age but I have never been called by that name, and I would like to formally have it changed.

Thank you for your help.

Re: Name change

If you are over 19 years of age, not a convicted felon, and not trying to avoid arrest, judgment, past due child support etc., it is a very simple procedure. You simply go to your local probate court fill out the necessary paper work and pay a small fee (varies by county, in mine it is $25) and you are given your new name.

There is no need for an attorney, and as long as there are no problems, it should take less than an hour.
