Legal Question in Elder Law in Arizona

Family Law/Elder Abuse

Hi, I have a parent that has dementia and is being cared for by my sibblings. They are using her money for their personal gain. Her income goes into the same bank account as one of my sibblings and there is no accounting for where the money goes. Also, since I've made my feelings about this known to them. They are keeping me from seeing my parent, who is very ill and has been hospitalized. They haven't even let me know that she has been in the hospital. What recourse do I have?

Re: Family Law/Elder Abuse

You should bring an application to the Probate Division of the Superior Court to appoint you as guardian and conservator of your mother. That way you will have the authority to take care of your mother, both medically and physically, and financially, all under the supervision of the court. In addition, you can ask the court to order an accounting of your mother's money that was put into your sybling's account. The court can punish them for any wrongdoing.
