Legal Question in Employment Law in Arizona

I was hired as a General Manager for a franchise of T Mobile and T mobile Corporate is required to pay me for the first 90days per contract. They sent my first check to My Boss and he lost it or miss placed it so he requested a new one. Corporate contacted me via email to tell me they were sending me another check they just needed my information address ect. Needless to say it is now going on 5 weeks have not received the first one nor have I received the one that was due to me on Monday. They decided they needed to do a background check on me now. Is it legal for them to do this. Shouldn't they have done that before they cut the first check to me. I have emails saying all of this They are trying to say that I was not on there payroll yet when I asked them why they sent the first check they said I was a off the book employee. I never agreed to that.

You indicated that you were "hired" which suggests that you were an employee and not an independent contractor; however, you then indicated that you have a "contract". It would be necessary to review the terms of the contract to determine what your rights and their obligations are. If you would like to have the agreement reviewed, please feel free to contact Stephanie Coulter of this office at 602 462 1004 to arrange a time to have the agreement reviewed.
