Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Arkansas

i had an operation over 2 years ago. I was billed for it and received several letters demanding payment or they would send it to a collection agency. i wrote the medical center about the collection agency stuff and was told it was a mistake etc. The bill was paid with in weeks by my insurance and my balance was 0. now over 2 years down the line i decide to run a credit report because i was curious why i had been denied some loans and saw on my credit report even though the bill was paid shortly after my procedure and i was reassured by the medical center everything was taken care of. I now have this black mark on my credit and for no reason. I have wrote the medical center and the collection and was again reassured this would be taken care of and should of been taken care of 2 years ago nothing has been done. Can i take any kind of legal action on this matter against the medical center or collection agency ? thanks nj

I would continue to write and call the agency that reported you on the credit report. You need to stay after them until they fix it for you.
