credit union mistake

i have became unable to work due to illness my monthly payment to my credit union was insured if i became unable to work they would make the payment. now they are saying they forgot to add this insuarnce to my monthly payment which there is only 8 more remaining. and they requesting $800.00 to bring this insurance up to date. is this a form of discrimination because i am disable or can they legally steal my last few dollars i have sat aside for food for me and my family of four. HELP ME

If you have a signed document that assures that the insurance is supposed to attach to your account, then you might want an attorney to assist you with communicating with the credit union. If so, I think they should waive the $800 and pay it themselves -- especially considering your circumstances and the purpose of the insurance.

You might read the fine print. Usually, there's a bit of a waiting period before the insurance would kick in.
