Legal Question in Disability Law in California

Guide Dogs For The Blind

The local chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous has refused to allow my Guide Dog For the Blind to come into the meeting room. They state that no dogs of any kind are allowed. What are my rights concerning this issue. Does the ADA law have any requirements regarding this?

Re: Guide Dogs For The Blind

Is it because the facility in which the meeting is held does not allow service dogs, or do you think it's the chapter's general policy? A business organization is not permitted to discriminate because of a person's disability. See the Unruh Civil Rights Act, Civil Code sections 51 and those that follow, including 54.1 applying to guide dogs. See also Title III of the ADA of 1990.
