Legal Question in Appeals and Writs in California

How long after I file a writ of administrative mandate must I serve the Respondant? I would prefer to wait as long as I can and leave them as little time as possible to respond, what are the time limitations.

The due date for the respondent's answer is calculated from the date of service, not the date of filing. Waiting will not reduce the amount of time in which it can respond.
