Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

Is it legal for someone to send a boy to a mental hospital just because he's gay? ... And is it legal for them to send him to a mental hospital with his parents consent?

Homosexuality is not viewed as a mental disorder in California, but there is nothing "illegal" about sending someone to a hospital for that reason. That having been said, the hospital should be unwilling to accept the patient for this reason, and the boy (assuming he can get someone to help him) ought to be able to petition the court for his release.
