Legal Question in Consumer Law in California

getting a credit card in husbands name without his knowledge

I obtained (and used) a credit card online by using an offer that came in the mail under my husbands name without his knowledge. Is he liable for something he knew nothing about? Does the bank bear any responsibility for not verifying that HE indeed wanted the credit card? HELP!

I am not sure why the bank would be responsible. It sounds like you forged his name and are guilty of identity theft. The bank will come after you for the money and they could potentially have the police investigate this and arrest you. You should offer to pay them ASAP and you may want to contact a criminal defense attorney for a consultation.
