Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Can a minor be a Corporate officer and have liens filed against them?

My son was signed on to his mother's corporation as a treasurer exactly one month before his 18th birthday. If it matters, I was long divorced from his mother at that time. He did not do any work as an officer.

He is now, at age 21, being hounded by a bank lien and can't open a checking account or apply for a consumer loan or rent a house. I'm not sure if his mother's company went through bankruptcy or is just dodging the creditors.

So, is he on the hook for being the treasurer? Can he file something to end this problem?

No, he is not personally liable. He can resign as an officer any time he wants to.
