Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

I visited a dermatologist to diagnose a skin condition. While there she noted that she could remove several warts that I'd had for years. I accepted and after dealing with the skin condition she froze the 4 warts. Upon leaving she told me to schedule a follow up since warts tend to require a few treatments. I received the first bill a few weeks later for the wart treatment and skin issue. I also ended up having to go back for follow up wart freezing 4 more times. After the last visit I started getting bills for about $200 per follow up visit.

I was under the impression that the follow ups were included - as with oral surgery etc..

Is it legal to charge for all the follow up without ever discussing it with me? I would have agreed to pay $600+ to remove some warts from my foot.
