Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

18 year old daughter had sex with 15 yr old who claimed he was 17. She is now pregnant and I am worried about telling his family. The boy knows and says he will be there for my daughter but I'm scared his parents will press charges. Please advise.

There is no such thing as his parents "pressing charges". If the District Attorney finds out, which in my experience they always do from the hospital, your daughter will be facing misdemeanor charges FILED BY THE DA. The fact there is only 3 years difference helps a lot in plea bargaining, she has NOT committed a felony.,

She should be concerned about criminal charges. If that occurs, feel free to contact me for the legal help she is going to need.

In the meantime, listen and learn:

Whenever threatened, arrested or charged with any crime, what can you do? Hire an attorney, unless you know how to effectively represent yourself in court against a professional prosecutor intending to convict. Remember the proper advice [if not already too late] is to exercise the 5th Amendment RIGHT to SHUT UP and do NOT talk to police or ANYONE about the details of the case except through an attorney. That includes on this or any other web site or public forum. Most police and prosecutors will happily tell you that 95% of people convict themselves by trying to be 'helpful and cooperative', either during initial contact, questioning, interview or interrogation.

If serious about hiring counsel to help in this, and if this is in SoCal courts, feel free to contact me.
