Re: alleged makers signature was forged

I take it the woman accuses you of selling her something other than what you represented you would sell to her . . .

There are two aspects of the matter - criminal and civil. If the police is investigating you for possible wrongdoing you need to get on it and nip it in the bud as soon as possible. Hiring an attorney for a modest fee to make sure no charges are filed might be a good idea, especially if you need to protect a clean immigration status. My law firm specializes in helping immigrants avoid negative consequences of any criminal prosecutions or convictions.

On the civil side, if you have not done anything improper, the woman ripped you off and you should go after her. You can hire a lawyer and take her to a small claims court where it would be just you and she, without any lawyers. You will have an opportunity to tell your story to a judge and obtain a judgment against her.

Hope this helps,

You're probably out the money. But, IF you know where the woman is, file a police report and file a small claims suit against her.
