Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Expungement

I am finished with my probation of a felony embezzelment charge. I am going to try to have it expunged, but do know if I should hire a lawyer or do it myself? And if I do hire an attourney, what is the going rate for expungement?

Re: Expungement

I would suggest you contact the Orange County Public Defender's Office as they have a program to assist with expungments, etc. You can get their information at http://www.pubdef.ocgov.com/newleaf.htm.

Re: Expungement

You can try to do it yourself by getting the appropriate forms from the court clerk. Remember to first reduce any eligible felonies to misdemeanors before expunging. A lawyer could do this for you for a modest fee.
