Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Felony Charge

Was pulled over and charged with an altered serial fire arm. I told them that it was a prop gun, they still arrested me. I spoke to the detective after I bailed out and he said that I was right it isn't a firearm but its a replica which is good for me, the main question is can they go after me for having a suspended liscence or do they have to stick with the charge that they charged me with? I also had marijuana with me, none of those violations are on any documents that they gave me when I left, only the felony altered serial number charge. My court date is May 21........

Re: Felony Charge

The police will file a report with the D. A. who will evaluate the possible crimes you may have committed. You'll then be charged with those crimes, and you or your attorney will get a copy of the police report at your arraignment.

You may be offered a PC 1000 drug diversion on the marijuana charge.
