Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Possible induced, fatal coma

If one merely but strongly suspects that a life had been prematurely taken and/or expedited by the recipients of his huge estate, does he contact the local police, DA or a law firm? Can they remain anonimous since they are only reporting heresay and their observed suspicions?

You already asked, and I already answered, this question by telling you to call the police or hire a private investigator. If you want to remain anonymous, do so through a lawyer.

The police and the DA will not investigate a death merely because somebody is suspicious. If you can show at your suspicions are justified, however, they may start an investigation.

The only reason a private law firm would investigate something like this is if it represents somebody who has an interest in the matter -- either because they stand to gain or lose part of the estate, or because they were an immediate family member of the deceased. Even then, the firm would only do what the client agreed to pay for. Neither a firm nor its client would likely want to finance an investigation just because a third party -- especially an anonymous one -- has suspicions.
