Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Investigator

Some man saying he is a National Special Investigator for Kaiser Permanente wants to talk and is forcing me to meet with him. He refuses to tell me what he wants but keeps calling. Should I meet with him? I don't want to but want him to leave me ALONE!

Re: Investigator

Probably he is a private investigator hired to help Kaiser weasel out of some lawsuit. You don't have to talk to him, tell him to take a hike, if that doesn't work ask for his private investigator license number and if he gives it to you tell him you are going to complain to the Department of Consumer Affairs.

Re: Investigator

Sounds like a scam or trick to me. You have no obligation or duty to talk to anyone, even if it is the police. Tell him to go to hell.

Re: Investigator

You don't have to meet with anyone, police or otherwise. However, it appears you are either being investigated for some type of fraud, or sought as a witness in a case. IF this guy is what he claims, and you refuse to meet, you could end up subpoenaed or arrested if there are grounds to do so. You should take this seriously, and not think you can stick your head in the sand and make it disappear. Hire an attorney to contact him to determine what is going on, and resolve whatever problem there is. If you face criminal or civil litigation charges, you'll need an attorney. The other possibility is that this guy is a phony, up to something that a lawyer could sort out for you. Feel free to contact me if serious about getting legal help.

Re: Investigator

I would recommend you hire an attorney to contact him and ask him what this is about. Insurance companies are very aggressive in investigating fraud claims. And they share thier results with the local DA. I also recommend you do not talk to him again. No good could come out of this.
