Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Misdemeanor Arrest

I was issued a misdemeanor citation for urinating in public (in an abandoned parking lot) five weeks ago while in San Diego for a friend's wedding. I was not intoxicated and have no previous offenses of any sort. My court date is set for 9/8 (Wed), but I live and work in NY. Should I seek legal representation in absentia, or should I attempt to move my trial to a Friday and fly into San Diego to represent myself? I plan on pleading guilty and attempting to have the offense expunged after a period of time. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you.

Re: Misdemeanor Arrest

Never plead guilty. A retained attorney should attempt to have it reduced to an infraction. Being a misdemeanor, you would not need appear. Call me directly at (619) 222-3504.

You can just appear through counsel (and spend the money on a lawyer instead of a plane ticket).
