They might take the death penalty off the table. Or not. Hard to say for sure since you didn't give any facts. If you have competent legal representation, few or no priors, and there is some weakness in the prosecution's case, you might get anywhere from 11 years for manslaughter plus gang enhancements up to 25-to-life. I'd be surprised if you ultimately wind up doing less than 15-to-life, or a flat 20 years. Good Luck.
At this point, I would be concerned about the death penalty. You need to be looking for a good lawyer who has handled capital cases before. I doubt you are going to find that on Lawguru.
None.
Not without substantial reason and defenses raised that would make the prosecutor worry about losing the case. Deals are made on weak cases, not strong ones.
Multiple counts and charges will multiply your problems. If you have priors and strikes, those will add penalty enhancements under the 3-Strikes rules. If this constitutes a probation or parole violation, factor those new violation charge[s] and old deferred sentence[s] in as well. You potentially face the death penalty, so you should focus on getting GOOD legal representation. If you can't afford private counsel, you can apply for the Public Defender at your first court hearing.
When arrested or charged with any crime, the proper questions are, can any testimony or evidence obtained in a test, search or confession be used against you, and can you be convicted, and what can you do? Raise all possible defenses with whatever admissible and credible witnesses, evidence, facts and sympathies are available for legal arguments, for evidence suppression or other motions, or at trial. If you don't know how to represent yourself effectively against an experienced prosecutor intending to convict, then hire an attorney that does, who will try to get a reduction, or other decent outcome through plea bargain, or take it to trial if appropriate.
If serious about hiring counsel to help in this, and if this is in SoCal courts, feel free to contact me.
You need an experienced criminal defense attorney right away. You are in a world of trouble, and you need competent counsel to advise you, to defend you and, if possible, to negotiate a deal for you.
