There is no penalty for being charged. If you are convicted of this misdemeanor crime, you could get probation, a large fine and/or substantial jail time, and a criminal record that could affect your ability to get or keep a job. Don't get convicted. Have a lawyer appear in court for you.

General?? It is a misdemeanor with 6 months jail and $1000 fine as penalties upon conviction. What actually is imposed is up to your attorney to negotiate with the DA and court.
