Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

What will be the consequence for my son's mistakes?

My 17 year old son recently has had several run-ins with the law. He glued

some doors shut at his school and was arrested, then expelled from school.

He participated in a criminal diversion program and was readmitted to school.

Then he got in trouble for having a bike chain in his truck, that was used by

another kid as a possible weapon. This time he was suspended from school.

On a weekened in the desert he rode his dirtbike on the street. A ranger came

after him with sirens and flashing lights. My son continued back to the

campsite and was arrested for running from an officer, riding the dirtbike on

a street and speeding. There is a trial pending. To top it off, after barking his

arm and taking Vicodin in his truck on school property, drug sniffing dogs

smelled the medication and his truck 9it's actually mine) was searched. A

camping knife was found. My son was once again arrested and is suspended

from school for 1 year. He is chrged with a felony.

He is a really good kid that makes poor decisions. I am worried about what

the consequences will be, especially for the desert ticket. Will he loose his

driver's license, how much will the triple ticket cost, what could a lawyer do?

Unfortunately a defendant cannot establish a repore' with the judge. An attorney has the opportunity to informally discuss the case in chambers. Another advantage is that a lawyer may say things that cannot be directly attributed to the client. Call me directly at 16192223504 for defense of the matter.

The primary matter is the felony. In many cases a lawyer can have a felony reduced to a misdemeanor through negotiations with the D.A. Poor decisions? Yes. What his attorney can do that he can't, is to establish a relationship with the prosecutor and present your son in the most favorable light, negotiating the best possible outcome of the case. If no acceptable deal is offered, then your only other option is to go to trial. IF there are facts and issues that make an experienced attorney believe he can win at the trial, then it might be worth the risk and cost -- not often is that the case. Contact me if interested in doing this right.
