Legal Question in Discrimination Law in California

Dress Code at Work

I work part-time at a car dealership as a receptionist. A few weeks ago I was told that I was dressing too sexy. I was wearing short skirts. Since then I have worn only pants. I never show cleavage. Again, I was called by my manager and told it had been reported by another employee that my stomach was exposed. It was exposed not more than an inch right at my belly button. Other female employees expose much cleavage (including the manager that warned me). Is this appropriate?

Re: Dress Code at Work

As an 'at will employee', you can be fired for any reason, including violating dress codes and being immodest. The complaints should tell you something about the way you are regarded by the people around you.
