Legal Question in Family Law in California

I'd like to buy a condo and would like to know if I can do it prior to finalization of my divorce. My divorce was filed in 2009 and judgement was granted June 2014 by trial court short cause and I was asked to file the judgement form FL-180 for finalization. We have settled everything, but the court reserves jurisdiction over any unresolved assets. I've filed the form, but the court is backed up and I'm not sure when I'll have it back signed by the judge. I have an opportunity to buy a small condo, and although, I don't foresee any issues coming from my ex-spouse regarding the purchase, I want to be safe and stay away from any future disputes that can arise from this.

So, is it safe at this stage to complete a purchase or should I wait until I have the signed FL-180 from the judge?

Thanks.

If you have already agreed on the separation date and are not buying the condo with community funds, I doubt that you would have any problem.
