Legal Question in Family Law in California

My wife and i have been seperated for about 6 months now and we are waiting for the divorce to go through. I have a little boy,4 and a girl 10. I have my girl full time except for everyother weekend my wife gets her and i get my son everyother weekend. I want to file for custody for my kids. My grounds for this is, is that my ex and the man she lives with are both recovering drug addicts and both attend a methadon clinic everyday. Neither of them have no license but continue to drive my kids around. She has no income except for the $400 that is given to her for both my kids because i am on SSI. She has been recieving my daughters money for while now even though she is not living with her. I am a physical therapist asst but at the moment i am on SSI while i am waiting for a kidney. I just feel that the environment she has my kids in is not very stable. I am not trying to keep her from my kids but i would like to see her get herr life together a bit.Right now she does have 2 warrants for her arrest for driving and suspended license and yet she still continues to drive. we were married for 10 years and she left me for this other guy who is a convicted fellon. I need some advice on weather a case like this would be doable thanks

It sounds doable to me. You should consider filing an OSC to get it before a judge.
