Legal Question in Family Law in California

divorce

My mom was suppost to go in to court tomorrow for a divorce. My mom and her soon to be ex have lawyers. Her lawer called her 3 hours ago and said he and the other attorney aggred to cancel the court tomorrow and to meet tomorrow and try to come to an agreement, financial everything without the court. Is this acceptable for her lawer not to get my moms permission and cancel her court hearing and also is this putting her in a bad perdiciment to get screwed over without a judge?

Without more information there is no way to answer your first question. Canceling the court appearance in court may result in a more efficient use of time. The negotiations often result in a very good settlement. The attorney cannot make the final determination as to whether or not an offer is accepted. The client has the final say in that case.
