Legal Question in Family Law in California

What to file?

my friend has a 3month old baby and needs to get custody and visitation orders established. What paper work does she need to file? She is unmarried and wants to do 80/20 with the father. She was told she needs an OSC 1st then she needed to file a petition to estab. parentage is this right? Can she file them together? She is young and has no money I want to point her in the right direction she has been to a self help place but they were too busy and told her to get the OSC first then come back. I am familiar with the paper work and filling it out I just want to be sure she files everything she needs to. Can you tell me exactly what papers to fill out and file to get started? I know what to do once they are filed, (serving the dad, and proof of service) any info would be graetly appreciated. Thank you

Re: What to file?

The local child support agency should assist her in establishing paternity and obtaining support. The visitation can be set after the paternity has been established. If she wants to proceed on her own she should first file a petition to establish paternity. She can also file a motion or OSC for child support.
