Legal Question in Family Law in California

final divorce settlement

I was married 14 years with 2 children. I petitioned for divorce and custody in Stanislaus Co, Calif

ten years ago. Child visitation and custody orders were issued. We had a hearing on economic issues which I did not request alimony, but no settlement of property or final dissolution judgement.

Circumstances have changed dramatically. Can I now request alimony or settlement?

Re: final divorce settlement

No one can answer your question without reviewing the court file to determine the status of the case. The general rule is that any assets that were not included in a division of community property can be addressed at a later date. The lengthy period of time between the filing of the petition and now will weigh against you. Get a copy of the documents in your case and consult with an attorney.
