health insurance eligiblility in a legal separation

Can my employer demand that my spouse be removed from my health insurance if a legal separation is granted in the State of California?

Is it legal for my spouse to remain on my health insurance when a legal separation is in place?

if you received a legal separation you are techincally still married and you may not remarry and he / she is still your spouse.
