Legal Question in Family Law in California

My husband and I moved to California a week ago. I am leaving him and know that I must wait six months to get a divorce. Do I need to do anything to legally protect myself until then?

You must reside in California for 6 months and in your county for at least 3 months before filing your divorce action.
