Legal Question in Family Law in California

mother of husbands children has moved to idaho and we can not find her

I have been with my husband for 6 years. we seen his children during the summer, before we got married 2 years ago. my husband continues to pay child support every month. We have not seen the children or heard from them since we married. The mother does not like my religion, and so now has moved and we can not find her. We continue to pay support each month, and we have gotten an attorney to help us, but they also do not like my religion, so they have dropped us. I do not push my beliefs on anyone, and I thought religion was not an issue anymore in the legal since. I belief the mother uses this as an excuse due to the fact we were allowed to see them before. 2 years ago she asked for more money and we said no. since then we have not been able to locate them. can anyone help us? without religion being a part of this? can someone help us at least locate them, so we can talk or see them?

You may wish to consider hiring a private investigator or using an internet service. I've got several listed on my book's web site, www.yourdivorceadvisor.com. Click on "resources" to find the people locators. You should be entitled to enforce court-ordered visitation without religion being an issue, unless of course your religion is somehow physically dangerous (involves snakes or playing with fire, for example) which seems unlikely. Perhaps if your husband's ex got some reassurance that the children won't be taught about your religion or go to your place of worship while they're with you, then she'll be more lienient about letting them visit.

Good luck!
