Legal Question in Family Law in California

I opened an account with an electric comapny at my home in 2005. I just received a letter stating that my ex wifes bill was being transfered to me. She had an account since 2001. I met her in 2003 we married in 2004 we seperated in 2005. I was served divorce papers on 1/11/2006. So after five years she apparently didn't pay her bill and they transfered it to me. If the bill says decemer 2006 closing bill for the year of 2006 and I was served papers January 2006. How am I responsible for it?? I drove down there and went in the back office and gave them a copy of my divorce papers and he told me it should just go away that it's not my bill and I got a letter today saying I owe it dated the same I was there????? Please help I cant afford a 900.00 bill

You need to respond to the letter with the same information that you provided when you drove down there.
