Unless both parents make the same amount of money, after the allowed deductions, yes. In 50/50 custody the higher earning parent will pay support to the lower earning parent.

I agree with Mr. McCormick. I also point out that there is a distinction between legal custody, which is often shared 50/50, and physical custody, which is not always 50/50. Child support calculations take into account the physical custody arrangement, including visitation plans, and the income of the parties.
