if i have a protection order for me and my son against his father and neither one of us show up to court will it be cancelled?

The impact of you not showing up largely has to do with the nature of the hearing. If the hearing is to reaffirm the existence of the protective orders, you should go otherwise the court could drop the matter from calendar and the orders would lapse.
