Legal Question in Family Law in California

when is settlement payment due vs. "late"

My wife and I reached a dissolution settlement with an equaliziing payment of $45,000 last Friday after months of haggleing, thereby avoiding a com;icated trial set for Dec 20. She is demanding the payment *immediately" or she will place a lein on my property. I am asking whether I am permitted a week or two to liquidate assets and come us with the actual cash payment to her.

Re: when is settlement payment due vs.

Even if the order was that you are to make the payment immediately, you are allowed a reasonable amount of time to raise the money. If the money is sitting in the bank a reasonable amount of time might be a couple of days, but if you have to sell stock it might be several days and if you have to get a loan it could be a few weeks.
