Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

We settled a lawsuit at mediation, our attorney gave the insurance companies thirty days to get the checks in to his office. How long can my attorney hold the checks before issuing my check and can he take his 1/3 rd out of the trust account before I get my money?

This would be a good question to ask the attorney. In writing. Tell him you want to endorse the insurance check yourself.

The attorney can hold the check for a reasonable time to negotiate discounts on your medical liens. The attorney should be able to disburse the funds to everyone at the same time once the total disbursements are calculated.
