Legal Question in Civil Litigation in California

Supoena- valid, failure to show consequences

I was served a ''deposition subpoena'' as a witness to a case. I didn't show. What are my rights and/or what should I do now?

Note Facts: I did not witness anything but my neighbor(defendant) thinks a large witness list helps his case. I was subpoenaed only 36 business hours prior to court time. I could not afford nor schedule time off from work on such short notice.

Re: Supoena- valid, failure to show consequences

you have to show up but you can sue the neighbor for abuse of process. you can also call the plaintiff lawyer and give him any dirt you have on the neighbor
