Legal Question in Immigration Law in California

My friend from abroad has been married for 6 months, and have their first AOS interview in a few weeks. However, the marriage is not working out and he wants a divorce. What will happen to her?

If the Petitioner (husband) does not want to go forward with the case, it will be denied & she will need to leave the country, or change her status to a non-immigrant status (which might be difficult to do), before she falls out of status due to the AOS denial. If she is denied, she could be put in removal proceedings, as well.
