Legal Question in Insurance Law in California

Automobile insurance co pmt for rental car

Filed multiple damage claims simultaneously against one auto insurance policy (1 was slightly older damaged I didn't get around to repairing until I was able to consolidate the repairs into one visit to the body shop. I had reported the damage when it occurred, and there was no issue with that w/ the ins. co). Separate deductible applied to each claim.

I had rental car coverage for $20/day. Since separate claims, separate deductibles, and no rental car is actually $20/day, I asked for $40/day coverage for rental car - $20 per separate claim or in the alternative at least reimbursement for the actual rental amount of $38 or so a day. Ins co refused to go over $20/day - are they right in basically voiding the rental car coverage on one of the claims? Thanks in advance 4 your time and efforts.

The answer requires a review of your policy's language to see how it defines rental car coverage. You should have an attorney survey the policy to give you guidance.

Rental coverage pays a set amount for every day you are in a car. You cannot stack this coverage.
