Legal Question in Employment Law in California

My employer provided our sales force with new computers to use with clients while on-the-road. Is it legal for them to charge each sales associate $25 a month for insurance/maintanence fee? Sales force is nationwide, company is headquartered in New York.

Not if the computers are strictly used for business. This should be a business expense they cannot pass on to the employees.
