Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Foreced Time off forced deduction from leave time bank

My employer has closed our offices between Christmas and New years and paid us for this time in the past. This year they are telling us that we must take the time off and are required to use acrrued vaction and personal leave time to receive pay. They indicate that California law requires they pay us our vacation and personal leave time and that we are not permitted to carry over the time.

The employer is within its rights to change its pay practices and discontinue paying for the non-worked time between xmas and new years.

They are slightly mis-stating the law regarding vacation pay, but they are not violating the law by paying any accrued vacation pay to which you are entitled.
