alternative schedule 12.5 hour shift, did law change to overtime after a 40hour work week vs 8 hour day? Can staff sign waiver to work the alternative schedule?

Generally speaking, overtime must be paid for any work beyond 40 hours/week notwithstanding the implementation of a valid alternative workweek schedule, or lack thereof. Moreover, recent changes to Labor Code Section 511 may have certain impacts on the validity of a properly adopted alternative workweek schedule.
