Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Is there a limit to the number of hours a person can work and not be given full-

I have been working for a company for close to four years. I have never worked under 40 hours and most of the time I worked approx. 55 hours. Is there a time when my company can no longer call me part-time in order to not give me any benefits? At my job all full-time employees get benefits. Recently I was afflicted with a condition and have had to pay out of my pocket for medical expenses. Should I have been given benefits?

It appears you may have been misclassified. Without knowing what all of the employer's qualifying criteria is, it is difficult to say for sure, but if you meet all of the criteria, you should be entitled to the benefits offered others in your position.
