Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Rehire

I was working as the "Classified Adult Representaive" for a alternative weekly newspaper in Sacramento. I quit my job the day before I was supposed to come back. My old boss said that if anyone called for possible employment she would let them know that I wasn't subject for rehire. I think I'm losing possible employment because of this and I wanted to know if it was leagal or not.
