Can I require a pre-employment medical release?

We do not perform pre-employment medical testing but I have an applicant who was in a very serious car accident interview for a job which requires some physical labor. Can I have her present a doctors release as a condition of employment?

Not until after the job has been offered. Once the job has been offered you can require the employee submit to a fitness for duty exam to determine whether they can perform the job without limitation.
