If you are working more than the scheduled 6 hours, you need to inform your employer of this and explain why you are not able to work within the scheduled time frame. They need to take steps to modify the time sheet so you are paid for the actual hours worked. But make sure you are keeping a record of your time, independently.

While employers must pay non-exempt (hourly) employees for all hours worked, they can discipline employees for working unauthorized hours. That is why you should inform your manager and get authorization if you anticipate your job taking longer than 6 hours.
