Working for the Competitor

If I choose to work for a competitor and give 2 weeks notice to my current employer, is my current employer entitled to pay me the 2 weeks if I'm asked to leave on the day I submit my resignation?

There is no legal requirement that an employer pay you for days you no longer are employed.
